But my mom’s dump cake? This is a mix of pie and cake (recipe includes a box of cake mix). It’s cherries and pineapple which just give the sweetness of the cake mix a tart (but not too tart) explosion of sweet and tart in your mouth.
Serve with ice cream or a la cart.
The scoop.
THE DIRECTIONS:
1 large can of crushed pineapple
1 large can of apple or cherry pie filling
1 box lemon, white or yellow cake mix
1 stick-o-butter
Heat oven to 350º. Dump the pineapple and cherry filling in the bowl. Sprinkle cake mix evenly over filling. Slice butter over cake mix (stick it in there a bit). Bake for 1 hour.
I use yellow cake mix. My taste buds feel the lemon cake mix make it too sweet. But I wanted to include that option because no two taste buds are alike, right?
This dessert is best served warm.
