My Spring Wardrobe Spruce-Up with Kohl’s (AND a Kohl’s Gift Card Giveaway!)
I am so excited.
SPRING IS IN THE AIR!
You know what that means… it’s time for a wardrobe spruce-up, y’all!
*Disclosure: Thank you to Kohl’s for providing me with the gift card that funded my wardrobe spruce-up!*
I was so excited to take on this little Spring wardrobe spruce-up project because frankly… my wardrobe needs some sprucing. Especially my Spring options.
Here in the Pacific NorthWET there can be a bit of a weather personality disorder. For example, today we hit almost 60 and I sat outside on my porch to feel the amazing sunshine warmth on my face.
Only days before I was wearing long sleeves and a jacket and wool socks.
Rule #1 for dressing in the Pacific Northwest during ANY time of year is to LAYER. So when I went to Kohl’s I knew I needed to find a layer and since our spring is not particularly warm and I had long pants in mind.
Plus, I’m always cold.
Wanna see what I found?
- • High-waist, wide-leg jeans by Elle
- • Chiffon, chevron, hi-low top by HeartSoul (similar here)
- • Faux-leather motorcycle jacket by Apt. 9
- • Platform, wedge sandals by Mudd
- • Gold tone jewelry by Lauren Conrad
A short-sleeved shirt and sandal wedges in March in the PNW? You bet! It doesn’t ALWAYS rain around here, but when the inevitable chill kicks in… that sassy motorcycle jacket is just the ticket. I’ve got lots of Stylish Leather Motorcycle Jackets and I love wearing them! They go with pretty much everything and they’re great for when I want to go out on the bike. I love the light gray. It would be easy to throw on a simply black sweater or jacket too, but I prefer the contrast PLUS the gray gives the outfit a spring-like lift!
Speaking of lighter colors… when people think Spring, they often think pastels. I am not a huge pastel person. I adore pastels, but finding pastels that look great on me is a toughie.
That’s why I was so excited to find something NOT black and white. I could easily have all black in my closet… it’s just a great color for me and my fake blonde-ness however… I am over the moon about this cute little bow sheer sleeveless top by Eyelash! I’ve been noticing that nautical things are all the fashion rage right now, so it was a no-brainer to hop on THAT fashion
Basically, I scored two entirely different outfits with simply a change of top and shoes… voilà!
I knew I had a pair of faux patent leather red wedges at home and knew they would go perfectly. That is why this is a spruce-up post, not a buy a whole new wardrobe post.
It’s about finding a few new things to give new life to the great things we already have in our closets.
Adding a SPRING in your step, if you will.
Don’t underestimate the impact of shoes and accessories, right?!
I like taking a staple (like a pair of jeans or slacks) and making entirely different outfits by changing-up the top, adding or removing an accessory or two… and switching out the shoes. It’s easy to feel like you’ve scored a whole new wardrobe by playing with staple pieces.
I spent $152.60 and gained at least two new outfits for my spring wardrobe. I have some black slacks and a jean skirt I can change-up my tops with… and of course just about any top in my closet will work with those.
And can I say… I LOVE high-waisted jeans. PERFECTION.
Oh, and I saved $198.60.
I SAVED MORE THAN I SPENT.
I shopped the Grand Opening sale… I live near Seattle, and for my Seattle-area people I have some good news! A new Kohl’s has opened at The Commons of Federal Way!
Though I did only focus on Grand Opening sale items, I did find one clearance item I couldn’t resist. A previous shopper had hung the motorcycle jacket in the wrong place and it was as if it was left there just for me…
