I don’t mean to help run this holiday into the ground with ANOTHER post about moms/mother’s day.
But, here lies my contribution to the internet.
My family helped me make a little video for Mother’s Day. There are no flowers. Nor jewelry.
No fancy brunch.
But it fits.
With new babes in arms we couldn’t wait until the wee littles said it. The word we had long dreamed to hear…. MOM.
Who knew, the sweetness of that name would soon become…
You’re doing the hard work, moms. Props.
If I had the money, I’d send errrybody a pair of ear plugs. As sweet as the sound can be, I think a break is OK every now and then. I hope you get that break. And I hope you stop and take some time to squeeze your love onto those kids of yours. They are not getting any younger.
I met a mom this morning with 4 kids 5 and under (Hi Jeanne!). As she held one of her littles on her hip I had to hold back a little emotion. My youngest is 8.
I absolutely cannot remember the last time I held one of my kiddos on my hip.
Back in the day when they were little, I remember my body aching from the physical demands of motherhood. With an almost 14 year old, 11 year old and 8 year old, Motherhood has become more of a mental and emotional strain. Let it go on record that I miss those hip-holding moments.
Enjoy these days, wherever you are in the journey.
Treasure the mundane.
And… mother on, my friends.
