A Fond Valentine’s Day Memory

I remember looking out the window of my childhood home, around 5 o’clock in the evening.

A Fond Valentine’s Day Memory

My dad would climb out of his truck wearing his telephone-man uniform. I remember in his hands he carried 3 vases as he walked to the front door… one of roses for my mom… and two other vases. Each with a single carnation — one for me and one for my sister.

*end sequence*

I remember feeling so special when my dad would bring us our flowers. I was a little girl who LOVED her candy, but I don’t remember the candy. I remember my dad, and his act of Valentine love for his little girl made me feel like a treasure. My dad is a precious man.

So, in an effort to channel a love-example set by my father… I got donuts for the family this morning. Talk about effort! I almost broke a sweat when I told the bakery guy, “Yeah, yeah… the the ones with the sprinkles… “
