Oh yeah. We’ve made it through Valentine’s Day aaaaaand Mother’s day. Now it’s time to focus on those dads and grads. Windows 8 is a pretty magical operating system, and when using any Windows 8 device… there are a few cool apps that your dad or grad might particularly enjoy… justWink … This app lets you personalize and send greeting cards from your Windows 8 device. Cards can be sent to friends and family via email or even Facebook. Of course the card options don’t just end at “conGRADulations”, or “Happy Father’s Day”. You can find cards for all occasions, with all sentiments… funny, cute, sassy, sweet… justWink is filled with choices! Oh, and the price is right, yo… $free.00
Skype … We all know about Skype. But let’s not forget about Skype! When a face-to-face Father’s Day BBQ just can’t be arranged… Skype. The app that makes staying in touch with all your contacts easy-peasy. Again, the price is right. Zero pennies. A great gift for my dad would be to make sure he knows how to get rolling with Skype! My folks need a webcam. Actually, they probably need an updated computer… with Windows 8!
Kindle … The app is free. FREE. Show your beloved dad and/or grad the Kindle app for Windows 8. With access to over 1 million books in the Kindle Store, including best sellers and new releases… your loved one will most certainly be able to find something to escape into or learn from. Especailly those grads, we want to keep them learning! Amazon’s Whispersync technology syncs the furthest page read, bookmarks, notes, and highlights across all devices that have the Kindle app installed and across any Kindle device. This means one can start reading on one device and pick up where one left off on another. That’s just cool. Windows 8 and it’s virtual treasure chest of apps makes life better, sweeter, funner, and simpler. Sharing (and adding) these apps not only makes life a bit better for your loved ones, but yours too. When that graduate is off on a new adventure, wouldn’t it be nice to get pinged to join a quick Skype chat? Miles may separate, but technology makes it a little more bearable. Oh heck, it even makes the distance a bit fun as well. Do you have Windows 8? What is your favorite app these days? Pretty sure Fresh Paint is the front runner in our house! *I am Windows Champion. I have been given the Acer Aspire S7 Ultrabook to review for a year. I am not being compensated for this review. All impressions and experience with this product are my own.
