*I was invited to attend the media preview event, and have been given two media tickets to view the show. All opinions and excitement are my own.

I was invited to get a little pre-show look at costumes, the chandelier… and even meet Eva Tavares who plays Christine! I have photo proof of our meeting! I may or may not have blathered on about my private voice class in college, and my final piece being “Think of Me” and how my training has taken me to karaoke-level performances. I talk too much…

Eva Tavares… is a local gal – from Vancouver, BC! She trained at the UBC Opera Program and the Banff/Citadel Theatre Professional Training Program, and some of her credits include the world premiere of Sousatzka, West Side Story and A Little Night Music.
Wanna see some of the costumes up close????????
These costumes are gorgeous (right?!) and NOT light. SO HEAVY YOU GUYS!
Speaking of heavy…
This bad boy weighs around 2,000 pounds. I guess that is what THIRTY THOUSAND CRYSTALS WILL DO TO A CHANDELIER.
If you’ve spent any time reading my blog or following me on Instagram or Facebook, then you probably know we are a theatre family. All my kids did children’s musical theatre at one point.
Today, it’s my 16 year old that keeps us entertained with performances and busy with auditions, voice lessons, and watching her new choreography arrangements.
But my experience with theatre does reach further back in my personal history… The very first REAL show I saw was The Phantom of the Opera at the Ahmanson Theater in LA. Back in 1992.
And when I took voice lessons in college (great training for my on again, off again relationship with karaoke…) one of my final songs was “Think of Me”… BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY. I went to school in Southern California and Phantom was ALL THE RAGE so it was an obvious piece choice for a young college girl.
Let’s just say I passed the class just fine, but we can probably safely deduce my career as a singer topped out there.
All that to come to this conclusion… I LOVE THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
The music. The costumes. The AMAZING sets. And 26 years IS FAR TOO LONG to wait to see it again. I went to the show with two of my college girlfriends back in the day (Hi Angel and Chantelle!), but this time I got to experience it with my daughter.
