Tony Award Winning Broadway Revival…  The Color Purple at The Paramount Theatre in Seattle

I was SO excited for the opportunity to go see The Color Purple showing at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on opening night.

The tour will visit more than 30 cities, and the run of the Seattle show at the Paramount is super short, so if you are hoping to see it – act quickly!

The set above… that was the only set. I am always amazed at shows that manage to steal me away completely without moving in new sets and using extravagant scenes.

I was pulled in immediately.

The music was AMAZING. Just amazing. The harmonies… like velvet. I could have listened to their voices for days and days. Listening to such talent LIVE… it takes my breath away.

To put words on this show is to put limits on it’s impact and soul. The passion in this show… and hope and fear and pain. It it felt so… raw and real from deep in some random seat in the audience. I was not only entertained, but I was moved.

The rest of the audience was too. I loved the emotion coming from the audience. The cheers for Celie, “AMEN!”, and gasps of shock too. We were all in those moments, feeling them too.

The message of this story is strong and powerful… and is as timely in our history as it has ever been. I probably wouldn’t bring my younger children to this show – if you are familiar with this story then you know it deals with some pretty heavy issues. But I would consider it for older teens and all adults.

There is such talent up there on stage, and I am so grateful I was able to experience this amazing production.
