Smash Summer Boredom: Tennis, Anyone?

Any tennis players in the house?!!! The thing is, you don’t need to be a tennis player to play tennis…

Tennis, anyone?

The summer is upon us… which means school is out and many of us parental-types are looking for things to help keep our kids busy this summer.

You see, if the kids are busy… they don’t have time to get in trouble! Nor will they have time to grow roots into the couch.

Just say NO to summer couch potato-ing!

Hey! I have an idea… TENNIS, ANYONE?!
For my friends in the Seattle area, RecTennis has partnered with Seattle Parks and Recreation to bring their fun programs to our region of the PNW.

Four Seattle parks will host RecTennis Summer Tennis Camps this summer: Solstice Park, Jefferson Park, Bitter Lake Playfield and Meadowbrook Playfield.

In addition to location options, there are a couple of creative camp options for ALL ages.

I know. You are worried because you have little-to-no tennis experience. BUT WORRY NOT! The programs are all about fun and learning and well… smashing summer boredom!

RecTennis | Smash Summer Boredom
Summer Tennis Camp for 6-14 year olds. In this camp your emergent tennis star will:

  • Be taught basic tennis skills
  • Stay active with high energy games
  • Pick up life lessons and skills kids can take off the court
  • Round out a day of tennis with other sports, frisbee, and arts + crafts
  • aaaand… RecTennis provides all of the equipment your child will need for their age and skill level

There are 10 Monday-Friday sessions to choose from this summer:  1.5 hour sessions and 4 hour camps! The 1.5 hour session focuses on tennis, while the 4 hour sessions also include fun camp games, activities, and swimming.

RecTennis Friends+Family. You guys! This one sounds so fun! Here’s what they shared with me about this particular program,

It is an evening program that brings together your whole squad (be it friends, families or couples) for an hour and a half of fun, outside summer tennis! With music pumping and the sun shining, people learn tennis basics as a group. Program splits up participants by age so parents get some alone time and kids get to play with their own age group, then come back together at the end for big group play. This is a great alternative post-work workout option, helping folks get their blood pumping after sitting at a desk all day.

I love that they have taken a typical tennis lesson opportunity and created something unique and something to share with friends. Talk about a twist on “happy hour”, right?!

Have you ever played tennis? Have you ever experienced it in a program like this one?

Of course, right now they are offering a great special:

Buy 4 sessions get the 5th FREE.

That sure is handy! They also offer limited partial and full scholarships for those who need help paying fees. You can register and learn more when you visit rectennis.com/seattle.

And might I suggest not waiting to register? Summer camps are popular and it can be tough to get into the session you prefer if one waits too long. I may or may not be speaking from experience. My kids have missed out on more than one summer camp experience due to my own lack of urgency!

Long story short… procrastinate later. SMASH summer boredom before it’s too late!
