Postpartum Depression.
It’s real. It’s dark. It’s serious.
And there’s hope.
Postpartum Progress is the world’s most widely read blog on PPD and all other mental illnesses related to pregnancy and childbirth. Postpartum Progress touches the lives of at least half a million pregnant and new mothers each year through their programs.
Because of Postpartum Progress there’s support. And education. And a fierce community of women fighting on behalf of moms who are struggling.
Out of Postpartum Progress, Climb Out of the Darkness was born. It is the world’s largest event raising awareness of postpartum depression, anxiety, PTSD, psychosis and pregnancy depression. The event was created by and benefits Postpartum Progress Inc., a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization that raises awareness and supports pregnant and new moms with these illnesses.
And it is entirely possible there is a climb near you.
My girls and I got to walk in a local Climb last year…
And we met-up with friends!
My girls don’t really understand why it was important for me to be there, but I do. The other moms there do. And just like the story shared in that video above… when you are in the thick of something dark… feeling joy and hope and having the ability to even get up and turn on the light can feel insurmountable.
The picture above is hope… that moms can climb out. Climb out of the darkness.
And there are lots of arms reaching out to help.
You can find a local climb here. If you can’t participate, you can still donate. You can do that here.
