Are you ready?
TWO Thrifted Frames ideas for Halloween!
If you didn’t catch my video last week, about the things I gathered at Value Village, you really should (here). Because OH MY HECK THE TREASURES AND POTENTIAL!
I got the spider (a dozen, in fact!), the frame, and yarn all at Value Village. To make this you will also need scissors and masking tape. Remove the back of the frame and the glass. Turn the frame upside down.
Cut pieces of yarn at varying lengths, place corner to corner to corner or edge to edge, or corner to edge, taping down each piece of yarn as you go.
There’s no pattern to follow… just pretend you are a spider and make a web… OF YARN!
I used one of the spiders I bought at Value Village and placed it onto the web. My spider is a little furry *shudder*, so she just stuck right onto the thick, fuzzy yarn. I like the thick yarn, but yarn thickness is up to the web-spinner’s/creator’s discretion, or what one might score at Value Village!
I love this second idea because when Halloween is through, you can remove the insert and replace it with, say… a beautiful Fall leaf!
Idea #2: THRIFTED FRAME ART
For this little project you need: thrifted frames, an old book, cutting mat, X-Acto knife, and black card stock. I got my frame and book at Value Village.
Choose a page from your old book. If it’s a scary book, choose a passage that is scary or SPOOKY… if it’s a science book (like mine)… you might find the science-speak is even scarier than a scary book. Use the glass of your frame as a guide for the size you need to cut your page down to.
Now this is the part that could be a bit challenging. I drew out my own words and cut them with my X-Acto knife with only the will of my free hand. Some folks might choose die cuts or have fancy machines, or you can poke around online for spooky downloads… like witch, crow, and/or Frankenstein silhouettes…
But I like BOO.
BOO!
Another option is painting the frame, say BLACK. However, I loved the gaudy gold. I think it says “Halloween” without literally saying “Halloween”…
And here are my thrifted, crafted treasures together. Being all craft, slightly spooky, but mostly charming by my fireplace…
