Pumpkins and Pumpkin Carving and Suchwise

This is just a huge post of pictures.

And also commentary.

Because I WILL NOT BE SILENCED

These are pictures of that one Sunday in October we went to a local pumpkin farm and corn maze and it was warm and sunny and my kids are growing up so it’s not so easy to get permission from them to take cute pictures of them choosing pumpkins and riding in wagons and such. And also the pumpkin carving. Yes, we did it all in ONE DAY.

ONE.

Check and CHECK.

I now present to you a pile-o-pumpkins sans cute children…

DSC_9655_blogI am learning piles of pumpkins are much more cooperative subjects.

DSC_9649_ed_blogAnd when all else fails… dad, Mimi, and mom will step up to the *plate*…

DSC_9653_blogOf course, Lucy is almost always up for a photo opp.DSC_9627_blogAnd somehow I got Livi too. I think I told her I wasn’t going to post it anywhere. Oops.

DSC_9626_blogAnd there’s me… The camera doesn’t scare me!

DSC_9636_blogI am a natural farmer.

What?

Not only were there piles and rows of pumpkins (HEY. WHERE ARE THE VINES?!)…DSC_9665_blog There were also painted pumpkins. Which is CRAZY! I want to know where they got seeds to grow painted pumpkins…

DSC_9659_blog DSC_9657_blogSince we are so big and tough we didn’t need a wagon to transport our goods…

DSC_9672_blog

DSC_9702_blogAnd then we put our junk (pumkins) in the trunk…

IMG_4695_blogand braved the corn maze…

DSC_9722_blog*insert campy whistling song here*IMG_4703_blog

Teamwork!IMG_4719_blog

Of course, a trip to the pumpkin patch isn’t a trip to the pumpkin patch without a PHOTOBOMB!

IMG_4696_blogAnd then we headed home to carve our beautiful orange gourds…

DSC_9807_blogDSC_9792_blogLucy was a bit upset when she used a permanent marker to draw her design and decided she didn’t want the design she drew…

DSC_9735_blogBut we discovered something wonderful… Those Mr. Clean Magic Eraser things were truly magic and gave her pumpkin (and HER) new life…

DSC_9817_blogMeanwhile… Joel became distracted. DSC_9744_blog Which meant his final product looked like this:

DSC_9821_blogKevin was unimpressed…

DSC_9760_blogGus didn’t understand…

DSC_9757_blogAnd my pig dish-o-gourds just sat there. Unable to help at all…

DSC_9796_blogLivi and dad expressed their Seahawks fever…

DSC_9819_blogAnd even Mimi got her creative on…

DSC_9809_blogYay pumpkins.

  1. What a fun-filled day! I have to say, I think Mimi wins… in all of my 25 years of living, I’ve never seen someone make a pumpkin in that way and now I’m asking myself, “WHY?” because it’s so clever!!!!!
