Little Norway is so beloved… so how do we support businesses in Poulsbo during Coronavirus?

How to Support Local Businesses in Poulsbo During Coronavirus

How to Support Businesses in Poulsbo During Coronavirus

A Viking-sized reason our town is so deeply beloved is its people… and many of these people run amazing businesses that make this town one of the best places to live in the… WORLD. The problem is – EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED.

We have this “Stay at Home Order” in effect until May 4th at this writing… so how do we enjoy our Poulsbo people and food and culture and services if we are home?

Through creativity. And if our town has anything… it’s CREATIVITY, and we are Poulsbo Strong 😉

I have been asking businesses to share the best ways they can be supported during this time. This long list is filled with Poulsbo businesses who have specifically shared how we can support them… restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, beauty, fashion, shopping, health & fitness, and an array of services…. My hope is this local guide will help you know how to engage with our businesses in order to meet your own need (or want) while helping support businesses vital to the life of our much adored Little Norway.

Before we get to the list, I would like to highlight words from Frank Zoboroski, co-owner of the Brass Kraken Pub. He shared great insight for community consumers that any business can benefit from. I know not all my readers live in Poulsbo…

The support from our customers and the community in general to help make sure we survive has been outstanding. There are a few key ways that I see as important to support your local restaurants during this time.

  • The first one is obvious, order food when you can for curbside. We are realistic and know that people can’t eat out every day and for every meal. But when you’re sick of cooking, every couple weeks consider ordering from your favorite local places that you would frequent. Check their Facebook or webpages for deals or specials.
  • Pimp them out on social media. If you get a great meal, post about it. If you see a friend looking for suggestions, recommend your favorite place. Leave them a good review online. Even if you are unable to eat out but you have a place you would consider yourself a “regular” at but never thought to leave them a review go and do that now, it could help someone else make up their mind about choosing that place to get food from.
  • If you’re able to, buy Gift Certificates. Most places can take payment over the phone for them and some I know will even mail them to you. This helps the business out and gives you an option to pay ahead for your night out this summer.
  • See if your favorite place is offering any merchandise for sale online or even for curbside pickup.

Non-local readers – you are welcome to support local businesses in Poulsbo too! Though, I encourage you to read through and gather ideas on how your own local businesses might be supported.

*If you see a Poulsbo business (yours or one that you love) not represented here that should be, scroll to the bottom for details on inclusion.

If you don’t know how to support a business like mine (a blog)… Here’s how you can help:

  • If you find an article on a blog you love – please share! Many of us earn earn via site ads. Ad revenue requires traffic/views. In short: shares = views = earnings. Content publishers are seeing drastic ad income drops because advertisers are cutting spending too. Advertising for this post was turned off, btw.
  • “Like” JOTS on Facebook, follow on Instagram, follow & pin my stuff on Pinterest!
  • I also have a book that just launched in the midst of this (March 31, in fact *whomp whomp). Right now I could use the Amazon reviews. Fair and honest ones, of course. If algorithms are king, then reviews are their queen.
  • All y’all locals can buy my book at Liberty Bay Books, and if you do purchase, please consider leaving a review on Amazon.

Finally, support local businesses in Poulsbo! Local businesses do A LOT to support us… have you ever been to a local auction? We’ve got this, Poulsbo ?❤️

*If you see a Poulsbo business (yours or one that you love) not represented here that should be, please email me at jennyonthespot@gmail.com. Please provide the following: 1-3 sentences explaining HOW customers can support you, your website link, social links, and/or other contact information (email, phone number). If your business is currently listed and you would like info updated, changed, or deleted, please send a detailed email. I will do the best I can to keep this list updated  in a timely manner, and keep it as inclusive as possible as things shift and change. I reserve the right to refuse inclusion if content conflicts with the tone and character of my site/business. Current information provided is based on replies to my outreach.
