Happy, HAPPY 11th birthday, my Lucy.
Happy birthday!
How many times can I tell you I love you? How many times can I tell you I am proud of you?
But then, can we ever really tell each other that kind-of stuff enough?
So this is my chance to get it down, and get it out…
I love you.
I adore you.
I am amazed by you.
Your innocence inspires me.
Your joy is a retreat in this incredibly negative world.
Your genuine heart is a constant reminder of who I want to be… more like you.
We shouldn’t care what people think,
but that is not true in every case…
Because what others tell me about you is worth noting – you are a bright spot, you are joyful, you are delightfully infectious, you are a good friend… and so very kind. These are the things people think of you and I am so proud of the young lady you are becoming. You are touching lives in a meaningful way, Lucy. And I want to be more like you.
My prayer for you is the same as it’s always been… filled with hope for the protection of your heart and life. Filled with hope for your success and humility. I pray God finds a way to keep your shiny, beautiful self… shiny and beautiful.
I can tell you all day that my love for you is limitless… That I love you no matter what grades you get… No matter what mistakes you make… I love and will always love you. But life gets tough, and things happen that will make you question not only my love for you, but God’s love… My over-arching prayer for you is that you will never doubt my love and never doubt God’s love for you.
You are my daughter. A vital being of inspiration for me. At times I become overwhelmed at the thought that we were put in a family together. That I get to be the one who you call mom. Or mama. My heart is full. My heart is abundantly blessed.
It sure is hard letting go of my sweet little girl.
But that sweet little girl is blooming into a most spectacular young lady.
And a hilarious one.
I love you, Lucy.
Happy birthday, sweetie.
