SANGRIA!

Sangria! by @jennyonthespot
So one day, I got this wine. And the first day of summer arrived and I had all this fruit.

Bada boom, bada bing… SANGRIA!

The wine? Black Box Wine…

It’s wine. In a box. I am more of a wine drinker than my husband, so when I pop open a bottle of wine, it is entirely possible I am the one who will have to drink it all.

Which, isn’t a problem, but honestly most times I can’t down a bottle of wine in one evening. Or even in two.

In the case of Sangria, instead of feeling like I must use  aaaaaalllll the wine… I can choose to make Sangria for Two! As much as I’d love to make sangria for 12… sometimes a wife and her husband just want a little something special on a random Wednesday night…

Sangria for Two

2 cups Black Box Wine – Merlot

1/4 cup orange juice

1/4 cup sugar

1 lemon (1/2 for juice… 1/2 sliced in rounds or wedges)

1/2 lime (sliced in rounds or wedges)

1/2 smallish orange (sliced in rounds or wedges)

A handful of halved strawberries (farmer’s market strawberries are best!)

1/4  of the sweetest pear – diced smallishly

1 cup club soda

(I also think mango or peach would be lovely in this)

Le Directions:

In a pitcher – combine wine, orange juice, freshly squeezed lemon juice and sugar. Stir. Stir. Add your lemon, lime, and orange slices/wedges and pop into the refrigerator for an hour. Or two. Or three. Or overnight. When ready to serve, add strawberries, pear, and club soda.

Stir. Pour. Clink glasses. Enjoy.

Break out the tortilla chips and salsa! Oooooooor you can always make TACOS. YUM.

If you love guacamole and have a few avocados laying around… slice up a few! An aside: Nibble on the leftover pear while doing this. Listen to Conga by Gloria Estefan. Or the Gipsy Kings.

DO IT.

Mooosh up the avocado. Add a teaspoon(ish) of salt. Mix in 1/4 – 1/2 cup of your favorite salsa. If you have cilantro, chop up a couple tablespoons of the stuff and mix that in too!

VOILA! A lovely summer evening… sangria with your honey, fresh guacamole, tacos, Ole!!!
